Helping Newcomers Locally
When I first moved to the Fraser Valley, I honestly felt a bit lost figuring out where to find everyday stuff beyond the big chains. I didn’t know which local services were actually reliable or even what neighborhoods had which options. I’m curious how other newcomers handled that early phase. Did local directories actually help you get settled faster, or was it more trial and error at first?

They helped me way more than I expected. When you’re new, you don’t have that built-in network of neighbors or coworkers yet, so directories kind of fill that gap. I used fraser valley local to find things like small repair services, cafes, and even childcare options that don’t always show up high on Google. It made the area feel more approachable, like there was already a map of how things work locally. Once you try a few places, it’s easier to branch out from there.
