Class Description

Join our Artistic Director for her 1-time pop up Beginner Waacking/Whacking class! Waacking/Whacking is a dance form and artistic expression that comes from the gay clubs of LA. In the 1970's this was a way for black and brown men to express themselves in a safe(r) space. The music that is used ranges from classic music to r&b but today, we see it used with Disco, Funk, andeverything inbetween! Aesthetically, you can picture fast arm movements, posing, dramatics and lots of expression! No experience required. What to expect: Didi will lead beginners through the absolute basics of the dance, introduce simple movements, and speak about the history and culture of the art form. We will finish the class with a short combo or freestyle exploration. What to bring: Indoor sneakers, any clothing that makes you feel good (athletic-like attire works!), and a pre-filled water bottle. St. Joseph High School - 3333 Greenbank Road
