Class Description
Join our Artistic Director for her 1-time pop up Beg/Intermediate Waacking/Whacking class! Waacking/Whacking is a dance that began in the 1970's in the gay clubs of LA. It was a source of freedom, expression and rebellion for black and brown men. It is danced to all genres of music but has been loved by the Disco, Funk & R&B scene. Aesthetically, you can picture fast arm movements, posing, dramatics and lots of expression! Some experience suggested. What to expect: Didi will quickly run through the basics through a warm up, and move into more complex patterns, drills, exercises and a short combo or freestyle exploration. Beginners are welcomed to join if they have already taken previous Waacking/Whacking classes before. What to bring: Indoor sneakers, any clothing that makes you feel good (athletic-like attire works!), and a pre-filled water bottle. Bring an article of clothing or prop" to play with!
