About the event

ABOUT: A 4-hour intensive workshop series with professional dancers and choreographers Dominic Cooper-Clarke, LUKE THE NUKE, and Dazl. Designed for dancers looking to expand their freestyle and choreography skills while learning from experienced industry professionals.


TEACHER BIOS:


Dazl:

Irvin “Dazl” St. Louis, an eminent choreographer and dancer for more than 30 years, is one of the leading figures of the urban dance scene in Montreal. His unique style, outstanding technique, and unwavering passion for dance shape the essence of his creations. Considered one of the most prominent house dancers in Canada, he stands out through his unparalleled creativity and remarkable versatility, having explored a multitude of styles throughout his career.


As the creator of the renowned dance group Flow Rock in 1993, he elevated the collective to the status of an urban dance icon across North America. Over the years, he has been invited to teach and perform at more than 30 educational institutions across Canada and the United States, while also participating in internationally recognized events such as the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Francos de Montréal, and Ramapo in New Jersey.


LUKE THE NUKE:

Lucas "LUKE THE NUKE" Granzotto-Martin is a dancer and choreographer from Ottawa who has been immersed in the dance world since childhood. Raised by ballroom dance instructors, he began his journey in B-Boying before expanding his training across a wide range of dance styles. With experience in both the freestyle battle scene and the professional industry, he brings a unique and versatile approach to teaching.


LUKE THE NUKE has earned battle victories across Canada and internationally, and has choreographed for multiple C5 "Create With No Limits" productions as well as Royal Caribbean entertainment productions.


Dom:

Dominic grew up around a musically influenced family, ranging from vocalists to music production. It wasn’t until his secondary years that he found his love and passion on stage through dance.

Since starting his professional career in Canada, he has worked with Royal Caribbean Entertainment, the FIFA World Cup & Asian Cup, Milli Vanilli, Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, the Toronto Raptors, Disney, Netflix, Adidas, Ozuna, Davido, Virgin Plus, Amazon Prime, and WWE, to name a few.


Dominic's style blends his training environment, ranging from Hip Hop to House; he strives to use his full-bodied choreography as a platform to fuel the soul. Since advancing his professional career, Dominic has shared his talents and vision in many countries across the globe such as Canada, Japan, the USA, the Middle East and the United Kingdom.


SCHEDULE:


5-6PM (1hr): LUKE THE NUKE / Advanced level / Hip-Hop freestyle & foundations, drills and choreography creation techniques. 6-730PM (1hr 30mins): Dominic Cooper-Clarke / Advanced / Commercial choreography

730-9pm (1hr 30mins): Dazl / Inter/Adv / House Dance freestyle & fundamentals

ATTIRE & PLANNING:

-Water bottles are encouraged - fountain onsite

-Wear comfortable clothing

-Indoor sneakers are MANDATORY. You will be asked to dance in barefeet if you do not have clean indoor shoes.

-No food in the studio - you may eat in the hallway

-The Arts court is wheelchair accessible (elevators, ramps, washrooms)

-Paid Parking: CF Rideau, Street Parking, Ottawa Art Gallery, City Hall


NOTES:

-No refunds / no credits - this is a speciality workshop series and not related to Moov's regular programs

-Max 30 students per workshop. No waitlists.

-Students between the ages of 16-17 must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver (will be available on-site / will be emailed to you)
