Class Description:

Lagos Energy is a workshop designed by Alli Ola. Through a variety of dance exercises, participants will begin to imagine and explore what Lagos was - and is.


Lagos is a state in Nigeria and the birthplace of several Nigerian street dance styles, including Konto, Shaku, Mara, and more.


What to Expect:

-Knowledge, information, and cultural context (discussion, videos, and reflection)

-Physical, mental, and emotional challenges that will push you in and out of your comfort zone

-Freestyle exercises exploring who you are and what you have to say

-Combos/choreography

Saturday, July 18, 2026

Time: 5:00–8:00 PM (3 hours intensive)


Pricing:

PWYC: $10 / $15 / $20 / $25 (maximum of 5 participants) Suggested users - kids ages 16-17 and/or those who do not have the means or resources for the regular rates.

Online rate: $30 (1 person) / $50 (2 people)

At the Door rate: $35 (1 person) / $60 (2 people) - not guaranteed


LOCATION: Ottawa Dance Directive / Studio B / Inside the Arts Court / 2 Daly Avenue


ATTIRE & PLANNING:

-Water bottles are encouraged - fountain onsite

-Wear comfortable clothing

-Indoor sneakers are MANDATORY or barefeet. No outdoor sneakers allowed.

-The Arts court is wheelchair accessible (elevators, ramps, washrooms)

-Paid Parking: CF Rideau, Street Parking, Ottawa Art Gallery, City Hall


NOTES:

-No refunds / no credits - this is a speciality workshop series and not related to Moov's regular programs

-Max 35 students per workshop. No waitlists.

-Students between the ages of 16-17 must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver (will be available on-site / will be emailed to you)
