Join us for a special Top Rock "Breaking/Break Dance" and Fancy Dance combined workshop from one of Canada's finest artists - Miss Chief Rocka (Angela). This workshop is part of the Hey Ma! weekend event by Alea de Castro. Date: Sunday August 10th, 2025 Time: 230PM - 345PM (1 hour 15 minutes) Location: Studio B in Arts Court - 2 Daly Avenue - 2nd floor Price: 17$ +hst online / 25$ at the door cash at the door or tap / *tap will have hst + a fee attached* ABOUT THE WORKSHOP - ABOUT ANGELA - Angela Miracle Gladue aka Lunacee is a nehiyaw (Cree)/Greek interdisciplinary artist from Treaty 6 Territory in amiskwaciy-wâskahikan (Edmonton, Alberta) and a proud member of Frog Lake First Nation. She began cultural dance at age 6 and later entered the Hip-Hop scene as a B-Girl in 2003 through mentorship with The Red Power Squad. A member of the Fly Girlz Dance Crew, she earned multiple accolades including placing 3rd at the World Hip-Hop Championships in Las Vegas. Since 2016, Angela has toured internationally with The Halluci Nation and performed alongside artists like TLC, Busta Rhymes, and Sean Paul. Her work has been showcased at events such as the Indspire Awards, APTN Indigenous Day celebrations, and the JUNO Awards. In addition to dance, Angela is a filmmaker whose work has screened at ImagiNATIVE, Global Visions, and Dreamspeakers film festivals. Her fashion label, "Miss Chief Rocka," features signature beaded jewelry called "Club Bangaz" and was spotlighted at Indigenous Fashion Week Toronto. Her beadwork is part of the Art Bank of Canada’s collection. Angela has also performed in theatre productions with the Smithsonian and Woolly Mammoth Theatre. She currently teaches dance with The Washington Ballet and other DC-based organizations and is a 2024 Washington Award recipient, 2024–2025 Woolly Mammoth Core Partner, and a member of the 2024 American Craft Council’s Emerging Artist Cohort. NOTE: -Children under 18 must bring a signed consent form from their parent or guardian or be accompanied. Policy
Registration & Attendance Policies: No Refunds, No Cancellations, No Credits – All sales are final. Missed classes cannot be credited towards future sessions. Make-Up Class Policy – For 6-week programs only, we offer one (1) make-up class within your session. Contact us to schedule your make-up class. Single classes, workshops, special events, or 4-week programs do not qualify for make-up classes. Late Arrivals – You may arrive late for class but the teacher will not stop the class for any late attendees. Health & Safety Although our staff will prioritize proper body mechanics, by participating, you acknowledge the risks of injury during a dance class and agree not to hold Moov Ottawa Dance, its staff, or facility owners liable for any injuries that may occur. For kids classes, parents will be emailed a waiver that must be signed and given to Moov by/on the first day of the program. Feeling Unwell? Stay Home – If you are sick or injured, we encourage you to prioritize your health and the well-being of others. Attire Sneakers are Mandatory – Proper footwear is required for all classes. Please wear comfortable clothing that allows free movement like "athleisure", or "athletic-like" clothing like sweats, leggings and loose t-shirts. Class Conduct & Environment Respectful Space – We are committed to fostering a judgement-free and welcoming environment. Disrespectful behavior, harassment, or disruptions will not be tolerated and you may be asked to leave the program and will not be refunded. Accessibility - All 3 locations for classes are wheelchair accessible with an elevator and ramps. Filming & Photos – We may take photos or videos during class for promotional use, but we always ask permission before final filming. You may opt out if preferred. You are also welcome to film yourself. For kids programs, we rarely take photos or videos, however this information is in the waiver you must sign. Lost or Stolen Items – Moov Ottawa Dance is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged belongings. Weather & Cancellations Weather-Related Cancellations – In the event of severe weather, we will notify you as soon as possible. Make-up classes may be scheduled at our discretion but will be determined on a case-by-case basis. By registering for a class, you agree to these terms. These will be available for review at the end of your booking process.
