Steam cleaning and interior sanitization: does it really make a difference?
I’ve been going back and forth on whether steam cleaning the car interior actually does anything meaningful or if it’s just one of those buzzword services. I keep my car reasonably clean, but between winter boots, coffee mishaps, and a dog that somehow sheds nonstop, it never really feels clean. Curious if anyone’s noticed a real difference after steam cleaning, especially with smells or fabric seats.

I was pretty skeptical too until I tried it last fall. For me the biggest difference wasn’t visual at first, it was the smell and how the fabric felt after. Regular vacuuming never got rid of this damp, dusty odor that builds up over time, especially after Calgary winters. Steam actually lifted stuff out of the seats and carpets that I didn’t realize was stuck there.
What I liked was that it wasn’t soaking wet afterward, which I was worried about. The heat seems to loosen grime and kill off whatever causes lingering smells. I didn’t go in expecting miracles, but after a couple of days I noticed less foggy windows and fewer allergy flare-ups.
I ended up reading more about how it’s done and used this page to understand what was included before booking: Interior Detailing by detaily
Not saying everyone needs it monthly, but once or twice a year feels worth it if you actually use your car hard.
