ABOUT US

Founded in 2018 by Alea “Didi” de Castro and Arnaldo “Effect” Betancourt Silva, who also serve as its directors, Moov is a performing arts company born with a mission: to bring more Street Dance to Ottawa. Today, Moov has evolved into a leading force in innovation within the dance community, blending fresh, creative approaches while staying true to the roots and essence of Street Dance and Hip Hop culture.
 

From weekly classes to high-caliber performances, Moov has expanded its reach across Canada and overseas, sharing their skills, deep cultural knowledge, and commitment to authenticity with dancers, the industry, and communities worldwide.

We honour the cultural roots and evolution of Hip Hop and street dance while creating platforms that foster personal growth, artistic innovation, and collective belonging across Ottawa and beyond.

PROFESSIONAL SCOPE

Moov Ottawa Dance operates across a wide range of settings:

  • Community-based programs in schools, youth centers, and libraries

  • Dance programs  for kids and adults

  • Commercial bookings including weddings, corporate events, and private choreography

  • Festival and stage performances for events like House of PainT, Capital Pride, Canada Day on Parliament Hill, and more

  • Artistic productions and showcases featuring local and national artists
     

This range reflects Moov’s dual commitment: nurturing everyday dancers while contributing to the professional dance landscape.

  • Chinatown: The Bronson Centre (211 Bronson Avenue)

  • Barrhaven: St. Joseph High School - Dance Studio (3333 Greenbank Road)
    Please do not come to our locations unless you've pre-paid for classes. No on-site sign ups.

Administrative Hours: 

  • Mon-Fri 1PM to 7PM
